I am made stronger through my hardships.

I know that life can be hard and I accept that as part of the natural order of things.

In fact, if I didn’t have the hard times, I couldn’t appreciate the complete joy of the good times, either!

I am reminded of the well-known statement, “What doesn’t kill me makes me stronger!” This is so true.

Even when I feel as if I cannot bear any more, I persevere and I come out of the situation knowing that I am stronger than ever.

Just as my body is strengthened with tough exercises, my character is strengthened by hardships.

These challenges exert pressure on me and make me feel like the weight of the world is on my shoulders.

But each hardship I conquer makes it easier for me to lift off the weight of the next one.

Overcoming hardships also brings me the confidence to face new challenges.

If I did it once, twice, or many times, I know I can do it again!

Because of past experience, I also know with certainty that “this, too, shall pass.”

It gives me the strength to continue on regardless of the circumstances.

Living through hardship also provides me a new appreciation of life.

I am grateful for the good times and can find joy in even the most trivial moments.

Today, I plan to persevere through any hardship that may befall me, knowing that I can come out on the other side of the situation stronger than before.

I can relinquish control to others.

I like letting others be in charge.

It saves me time, energy, and worry while allowing me to happily go about my day, doing my best by controlling only myself!

Even if I have the ultimate responsibility for the outcome of something, I can delegate individual tasks to others.

I release the tendency to control any aspect of how the tasks are done, as long as they are completed effectively.

Everyone has their own unique way of doing things and I appreciate our differences.

Letting others have control over their own assigned tasks results in better quality work.

We work better together when I don’t try to control everything.

This is true both at work and home.

At work, my co-workers are more motivated when they know they share control.

At home, releasing my control over many of the household tasks to my children allows them to feel needed and learn responsibility.

When I let go of having to control everything, it frees me!

A heavy burden is lifted from my shoulders and I am able to go with the flow and just enjoy life!

As I release the need for control, I can feel stress and worry float away with it.

I am happier and at peace when I let go.

Today, I choose to let go of any desire to control other people or events, focusing on the joyful simplicity of life when I only need to control myself.

I celebrate the small joys in life.

Life is a series of moments and each moment holds a joy of its own.

It might be a moment just bursting with great joy, such as when I hold my newborn baby for the first time, but most moments carry the small joys that provide me with a fulfilling life – day after day.

As Forrest Gump’s mother said: “Life is like a box of chocolates.

You never know what you’re going to get.”

And just as every chocolate in that box is delicious in its own unique way, so, too, are the moments of my life.

The joys of the day start as soon as I wake up.

I see my partner by my side and feel their love.

I think about how lucky I am to be able to cherish the love of this good person.

I look out the window and see the beauty of the dawn, hear the birds harmonizing in glorious melody and, yes, even appreciate the sound of the cats meowing for their breakfast.

I laugh as the puppy comes bounding onto the bed, happy for the new day, too.

I relish the warmth of the hot water in my morning shower.

I love the smile of my baby as he wakes and enjoys his breakfast.

I take pleasure in the sweet aroma of the coffee.

Moments like these continue throughout my day.

It is these moments that make me realize how blessed I am.

And so I celebrate these small joys of life that bring so much happiness.

Today, I choose to be fully conscious of the individual moments of my day and receive with joy the blessings that each moment brings.

I let go of my tendency to expect perfectionism from myself.

I realize that, as a human, there is no way that I can be absolutely perfect.

Expecting myself to be perfect is a lesson in frustration that I can do without!

Therefore, I set my goals for more realistic expectations and set myself up for success, instead.

When I set a goal, I divide it into a series of tasks that I know are attainable.

Each task I accomplish puts me one step closer to my goal, so I can feel successful all along the way.

Letting go of perfection reduces my stress.

When I try to do something perfectly, every little imperfection irritates me.

I acknowledge that I can do a great job without everything having to be absolutely ideal.

Trying to be perfect wastes my time.

I could be completing other tasks or doing something I really like to do.

When I look at it this way, I wonder how I could have ever spent my time in the endless pursuit of perfection!

My confidence and self-esteem rise with the realization that I am good without being perfect.

I can now see the illogic in expecting myself to be perfect.

It would be like expecting a tree to get up and walk or a pig to fly!

Trees are not created to walk; pigs do not have the ability to fly; and humans are simply not made to be impeccable!

Today, I strive to accept myself as the wonderful person that I am without expecting perfection.

I love and accept that there are some situations that I cannot control.

I let go of my tendency to try to be in control of everything.

What a relief it is!

No longer do I have to be responsible for everything.

It is much easier to focus on what I can control, instead of worrying about the things I cannot control anyway!

What can I control?

I can control my own thoughts and actions.

I can control how I react to events.

And I can control my expectations.

When I focus on what I can control, I find that I become more effective.

Instead of fretting over a challenge, I seek solutions and take action on my decisions.

Instead of worrying about what others will think, I live true to my own morals, ethics, and beliefs.

In being true to myself, I strengthen my self-esteem.

Rather than bemoan a situation, I take whatever action I can to make things better.

Taking decisive action reduces my stress about the situation and gives me hope for a better day ahead.

I accept that I cannot control the actions of others and I prefer it that way.

Truly, how complicated life would be if I had the responsibility of controlling and directing everyone!

Simply letting go of the need to control takes the weight of the world off my shoulders.

Today, I plan to accept whatever the day brings, do what I can where I can, and let the rest go!
