Mistakes are inevitable and I accept that.

I know that I make mistakes every now and then, just as everyone else does.

After all, no one is perfect!

I let go of any temptation to beat myself up about it and, instead, I move on.

First of all, I admit my mistakes and forgive myself.

Then I focus on what I can do to lessen its impact.

I do what I can to make up for my gaffes.

If I need to apologize, I make a sincere apology and ask if there is something I can do to make things right.

If I need to do something over, I start it immediately.

If I neglected to do something I was supposed to, I do it.

Then, I look for the silver lining. What can I learn from this mistake?

Mistakes always teach me something and enable me to grow.

Oftentimes, a little mistake brings solutions to light that I never thought of before.

It reminds me of something Thomas Edison said when he was experimenting with the light bulb.

He said, “I learned a thousand ways of how not to make a light bulb.”

The point is: each mistake we make brings us one step closer to success.

I realize that the term “mistake” is not synonymous with the term “bad.” I look creatively at my mistakes.

I seek opportunities to create positive outcomes from my slip-ups.

Today, I choose to have an optimistic attitude about my mistakes and find something positive about each one.

I am at liberty to make mistakes because I am a wonderful human being.

I free myself from the bonds of perfection and allow myself to make mistakes.

Everyone makes mistakes; after all, we are human!

Yet, I know I am awesome just the way I am.

I appreciate the wondrous talents and capabilities that were given to me at birth and strive to develop them to the best of my ability.

I am true to myself and make decisions according to what I know to be right.

Sometimes I make wrong decisions, and that’s okay.

When this happens, I forgive myself, learn from the mistake, and move forward with my life.

I endeavor to learn something from each slip-up.

I find out what went wrong and why, then I use that knowledge to better myself.

I take advantage of my mistakes and consider them as opportunities for inner growth.

I avoid over-dramatizing my mistakes and intensely worrying about the consequences.

I know that it is just a bump in the road, and I can handle challenges with confidence.

If someone offers constructive criticism to me, I accept the suggestions gratefully and practice to avoid the same error in the future.

If I wrong someone, I do what I can to right the wrong and make amends.

Mistakes are a part of life and I respect that.

Making a mistake does not lessen my value; it is what I do after the mistake that makes the most difference.

Even when I err, I know I am still the wonderful person I was before the mishap.

Today, I give myself the freedom to make a mistake without worry.

I choose to learn what I can from it and move forward with certainty that all will be well.

I can let go of the mistakes of my past.

My past mistakes are just that – part of my past.

I live in the present because I cannot change the past and know not what the future holds.

I may only influence the present, so I make the most of every moment in the here and now.

Just as all past experiences are part of what I am today, my mistakes have helped me grow and develop my inner strength.

I appreciate them for what they have brought to me.

I refuse to fret over my past mistakes.

Worrying about something I cannot change brings me unnecessary stress and causes me to waste my time and energy.

I choose, instead, to devote my focus on what I can do right now to improve my life.

If I am dealing with unpleasant consequences of a past mistake, rather than bemoaning the mistake, I seek solutions to my challenges.

Mistakes are like blocks in the road or boulders on my path.

They may seem immense, but I can go around them and continue on my journey.

I leave them behind without another thought.

I would never think of picking them up and carrying them with me!

In the same way, I leave my mistakes behind me and continue in my journey.

I do what I need to do to get past them and then move on.

Today, I choose to live in the moment without worrying about my past mistakes.

As I do, I feel the joy that can come with the ultimate focus on the present.

Knowing When to Back Down and Admit Your Mistakes

It’s never easy to admit you’re not right 100% of the time.

However, it’s important to know when to back down and admit your mistakes. In fact, how you view mistakes can tell a lot about your character.

It’s important to have a positive attitude toward slip-ups.

If you admit you made a mistake, you can work at correcting it quicker than if you deny it ever happened.

Of course, if you never acknowledge your blunders, you’ll never be able to correct them.

Who Makes Mistakes?

Let’s consider people you know and respect.

Have they ever had a lapse of judgment?

Of course they have!

The question is, do they “fess up” to their mistakes or do they try to hide them out of embarrassment?

In reality, if someone slips-up and tries to hide it, that’s when people begin to distrust them, not because they made the mistake in the first place!

We all make mistakes; after all, no one’s perfect.

When you make a mistake, it’s easy to ignore the problem or blame someone else for it.

The problem with either of these solutions is that you’re eroding the trust others have in you a little bit each day.

What Should You Do When You Make A Mistake?

Admitting you’ve made a mistake is actually part of building a trusting relationship.

By admitting your failures, you’re letting other people know you can take responsibility for your actions and the consequences that follow.

Open the door and give yourself an opportunity to make things right!

Here are some simple steps you can take as soon as you realize you’ve made a mistake:

1. Accept that you’ve made a mistake.

Take responsibility for it.

Decide within yourself that it’s better for you to take ownership of the situation rather than try to deny it happened or cover it up.

2. Discuss it.

Ask the other people involved if you can talk about your mistake, what you did wrong, and how you might correct it.

3. Allow other people to express how they feel about the mistake and what the consequences might be.

4. Listen to what the other person is saying.

Put yourself in their shoes. How would you feel if the situation was reversed?

5. Apologize and actually mean it.

You may want to explain your reasons for doing what you did; it may help the other person see that your heart was in the right place, if that’s the case.

6. Do what you can to make things right.

Work with the other person to decide on the best way for you to make amends.

7. Be determined to learn a lesson from your mistake.

Do whatever you can to avoid making the same blunder in the future. Tell the other person how you’ll act differently.

8. Don’t dwell on your mistake.

After you’ve talked it over with the other person and determined to make amends, let it go!

Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and move on.

Remember, though, that you may be starting over in building back the trust that you once had.

It’s never easy admitting mistakes.

Sometimes all you want to do is run rather than admit them.

However, knowing when to back down and admit your mistakes is part of growing up, being mature, and showing the responsibility that, in the long run, encourages people to respect you.

Mistakes are the detours that direct me to a better me.

Mistakes help me travel on a journey and arrive as a better person. I get back up with new insight each time I stumble. There is a lesson to be learned in every situation.

I take time to reflect when I am down. I ask myself, “What did I do to get to this point?” and, “What can I do in the future to avoid this situation?”

Personal growth is the best outcome of any mistake. I am slow to anger because I once lost my temper and offended a loved one.

My finances are in order because I once found myself buried in debt. Only truth enters my mind because I once found myself tangled up in a web of lies.

From each experience, I have learned that there is a light at the end of my tunnel. It would have been easy to allow rage, debt, and lies to reign my life, but I strive to choose a better way.

I learned my lessons and I enjoy the fruits of peace, prosperity, and truth.

I acknowledge that we all have faults. Making mistakes is part of being human. I do not know everything.

I will make mistakes and that is okay. It’s what I do after that counts. I forgive myself and I choose not to dwell on my errors.

Mistakes are life’s built-in lessons because there is no training course for life. Maintaining a pure heart helps me learn from my mistakes and avoid making them again.
