I trust in the love and support of my family because I know that we are bonded far deeper and more permanently than any mere friendship.

We have a common history and heritage with intertwined memories and dreams.

Our past, present and future are linked with each other.

For these reasons, I make the relationship within my family a priority.

I acknowledge that sometimes we see less than eye-to-eye on matters, yet the fact that we are interconnected for life gives me the security to dig deep and work toward understanding and solutions.

While I sometimes wish I could pick and choose my family as I do my friends, I know that relating to my own kin develops far more depth to my character.

In the end, it’s my family who will stick by me when the going gets tough.

I invest in the valuable bonds of my family relationships by addressing conflict when it arises rather than allowing it to simmer.

I value our relationship far too highly to allow it to be corroded that way.

I also deepen our bonds when I simply spend time with them.

I don’t need an excuse to have dinner with them, go shopping together, break out the board games, or simply sit and chat.

When I am with my family, I can be myself. I treasure that and do whatever I can to build on it.

I keep myself accountable to those I trust.

I have an amazing group of friends whom I can rely on.

I share my dreams and goals with them.

We trust, love, and support each other.

When I share an area of personal growth with them, they hold me accountable.

I am honest with my accountability group because I would gain nothing from fooling them.

Trying to deceive my friends would only rob me of the progress I could have made.

Therefore, I reveal to them what is deep in my heart.

I choose to partake in our accountability relationship, and willingly share information.

I can reveal secrets and shortcomings to my trusted friends without shame because I feel accepted, comfortable and free around them.

My trusted friends do not judge me; instead, they nudge me closer to my goals.

They may ask me uncomfortable questions at times, but it is because they love me and want me to succeed.

I appreciate them for that.

I trust my friends because they have pure hearts and desires for me.

I do not need to fear that that may think badly of me.

I look forward to sharing my successes and failures with them and hearing what they have to say.

My friends pray for me, and God uses them to draw me closer to Him and toward my dreams.

God speaks to me through my friends.

I trust His voice and remain accountable.

I trust that there is a plan for my life, even if it has yet to be revealed.

I enjoy the fact that life is a bit of mystery and that I can’t possibly predict the future.

It keeps my life exciting!

I relax and enjoy each day because I am confident that I was put here for a reason.

In following my dreams, I am gradually unfolding and revealing that purpose.

I believe the Creator put me together with my unique set of dreams, interests, and talents for a reason.

I am confident in this plan, so I happily follow my heart.

When I cross stitch, I put many hours into hundreds of tiny stitches in the fabric.

Each, on its own, amounts to but a speck of color.

If I turn the canvas over, all I see is a mess of knots and tangled threads.

Yet I continue to follow the pattern and place stitch after stitch, knowing that, in the end, a beautiful picture full of color, light, and substance will be revealed.

Just as with needlework, I do not expect the picture of my life to be revealed all at once.

My life is a work of art and a labor of love.

I am content to put in my daily stitches, confident that, in time, the picture will be revealed.

Communication of my feelings is important.

Because I know that relationships cannot grow without understanding, I share my honest feelings with the special people in my life.

I know I run the risk that the other person may misunderstand or perhaps even get angry, but I am confident that we can work through these hitches and use them to develop deeper relationships.

I have let go of the tendency to only admit to those feelings that could be classified as nice.

It’s a wonderful thing to be happy, content and peaceful. When I do feel that way, I am more than pleased to share the good feelings all around.

I also recognize that life is often far too challenging to be in a perpetual happy state and I am unwilling to pretend for the sake of keeping the waters calm.

I strive for authenticity in my relationships. I want those I love to feel like they can come to me when they are hurt or upset.

I set a precedent by being open with them and by sharing my fears, worries, and struggles along the way.

I realize that some people in life are merely being polite when they ask how I’m doing.

I am careful with my heart and don’t expose my inner self to people unless I know that they genuinely care about me.

Once I am comfortable with others, I am willing to take a risk in sharing my feelings because I know that it is the only way to develop authentic, supportive relationships.

How to Find the Road to Forgiving and Forgetting

Experts say the path to wellness begins with forgiving and forgetting. However, you may very well wonder, “How do you go about truly forgiving someone when they’ve grievously hurt you?”

If you’re willing and able to work on your emotional focus and release any desire for revenge, you have an honest chance of attaining your objective. While the memory of what was done will remain with you, you can still “forget” by putting the past behind you and moving forward.

Follow these four vital steps to be able forgive and forget:

1. Acceptance. The first step to forgiving and forgetting is accepting that you’ve been wronged. You must accept what has happened and find a way to live with it. Acceptance is the starting point for moving your life forward in a positive direction.

2. Healing. It’s important to give yourself adequate time to heal. The amount of time you need to experience relief from your pain varies; each person heals differently.

* If possible, you may want to try to limit your time with the person that hurt you while you reflect and heal.

3. Revitalize your relationship. All relationships, whether romantic or completely platonic, need nurturing in order to thrive. If you ignore nurturing your relationship for too long because you’re upset, it’s likely to wither away.

* Once you’ve begun to experience the fruits of your healing process, begin spending time together. Go out for dinner, hang around your house or just spend a day together at the park. The location is of little importance, but the company is essential to revitalizing your relationship.

4. Rebuilding trust. This should be done simultaneously while revitalizing your relationship. The person that hurt you should be working diligently towards making you feel secure in trusting them once again. Be open to their love, affection, and attempts to rectify their wrongs. If you hold a grudge, you may be stuck in this rut for a lifetime.

* It’s also important to let the other party involved, especially if it’s your spouse, know that it’s okay to trust you. If their mistake was brutal enough, they’re likely expecting you to reciprocate and get revenge. Make an honest effort to reassure them that you wish to reconcile and start anew.

To move forward, you must be willing to let go of everything you once thought was true and form a new reality together. This is the foundation for truly forgiving and forgetting.

But in this case, it takes two to tango. Both you and the other party involved must be willing to make an honest effort. Though it may seem unfair to ask you to make an effort when you’re the one that’s been wronged, this is the price you pay for freeing yourself from those toxic shackles.

People do change. Trust can be restored if both parties in the relationship are willing to work at it. While the healing process may take time, two people who are willing to reconcile and consistently seek each other’s happiness will experience that happiness for themselves and an intimate relationship that will withstand the test of time.

Power through the people

Have you come across a person who is so naturally friendly that when you put him inside a room of strangers, he’ll be friends with almost everyone in no time? We call such a people-person, someone unbelievably nice and charismatic that he can charm anyone into doing anything.

A socially-empowered person achieves so much greatness, basically because of the people that catapult him to success. He earns the trust and all-out support of the people, whom he had helped before. He never runs out of help. He can do anything with the plethora of people behind him. All because he knows he maximizes his social potential!

See, if you know your social skills and you make use of them, you will reach self-empowerment. Self-empowerment is making a general overhaul in your life and turning yourself into a happier and more successful person.If you can be one of those people-persons, then I can’t see any reason why you will not succeed. You just have to know how to start.

1. Be genuine.

Hypocrisy will just bring you all the way down. Be genuinely nice and interested to people. Once they perceive that you are Mr. Hypocrite with selfish intentions, you might as well say goodbye to self-empowerment.

2. Be the greatest listener that you can be.

To earn the love and trust of the people, listen to their problems and sympathize with them. Do not just hear them out, listen to them with your heart. Make eye contact when the person talks to you. Listen as if every word matters, and it does. Brownie points when they find out that there is a confidante in you.

3. Laugh out loud.

I do not mean that you force yourself to laugh for every joke cracked by someone, albeit you do not find it funny at all.This means finding humor in things and not being too darn serious. A person oozing with an awesome sense of humor attracts crowds and eventually, attracts success.

4. Don’t forget yourself.

In the process of fluttering around like a social butterfly, you might forget yourself, allowing everyone to push you over. Remember, love and value yourself before anyone else. If you deem yourself respectable and worthy of affection, people will flock to you and not trample on you.

5. Do random acts of kindness.

You don’t have to do a John Rockefeller and blow your savings to charity. Little acts of kindness matters the most, and this can be as simple as giving someone a surprise you-take-care card or helping an elderly cross the street. When we were kindergarten students, kindness was taught to us and greatly practiced. Now is the time to revive the good deeds and this time, let them stay for good.

6. Contact your old friends.

Sad how some friendships are destined to goodbye, but thanks to technology, you can do something about it. Relive the good old days by flipping your yearbook and look for the great people whom you want to communicate with again. Adding these old friends to your roster of support peers will surely make you feel good all over.

7. Develop your personality.

Are you grouchy, grumpy and generally morose? Whoa, you can’t go through life with those. Get rid of the bad traits and habits that perpetually hamper your growth. And really, who wants a grouchy friend anyway?

8. Be confident.

Be able to stride to the other corner of the room and introduce yourself to people with that winning smile of yours. Just remember: be confident, not arrogant.

9. Practice control.

When angry, don’t snap at anyone. Never throw a tantrum. Stay calm and collected. Be adult enough to take control of situation and transform your anger into something more productive and passive. As soon as people think your anger goes to volcanic proportions easily, they will find it hard to come to you.

10. Keep nurturing your relationships.

Your relationship with your family, friends and significant others is too precious that you must not neglect it whatever happens. Go out and have fun with them. Do things together. Happiness will never fly from your side as long as the people who matter the most are close to you.

In the end, using people for self-empowerment means becoming a better and more lovable person. It’s a win-win situation: the people know they can turn to you anytime and vice versa.
