The Power of a Positive Attitude

The power of a positive attitude cannot be underestimated.

The American minister and author of the book The Power of Positive Thinking Norman Vincent Peale wrote, “Any fact facing us is not as important as our attitude toward it, for that determines our success or failure.

The way you think about a fact may defeat you before you ever do anything about it.

You are overcome by the fact because you think you are.”

If you think you’re beaten, you are.

But if you stare defeat in the eye and refuse to give up because of “a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers” (Peale again), you can overcome any challenge and attain whatever you desire.

Empty pockets can’t hold you back very long, but if you have an empty mind filled with negative thoughts, you’ll always be held back from what you desire most.

Positive Thinking Leads To Action

With a positive attitude, you’ll begin to believe that you can build wealth in abundance.

You’ll chart your own course and be the master of your own fate and the captain of your own soul.

Thinking about what you want and deserve in life will lead you to take whatever steps are necessary to make those dreams come true.

Very often it’s a slow road to achieving your dreams, but one small step toward change will bring another small step after it.

Visualizing yourself in a better paying job might spur you to update your resume.

Believing you belong in a house in the suburbs might push you to call a realtor or look in the classified ads.

Realizing you have talents that make you special might convince you to volunteer in your community.

Living an abundant life doesn’t only refer to what’s in the bank. Abundance of family and friends is a very important part of human life.

It’s Easier To Be Negative

The average person gets all too easily gets imbued with a negative attitude.

It’s so much easier to whine and complain about needing more money, a better job, or a bigger house.

People are often lost in the negative imagery and don’t ever realize it’s in their own power to change their circumstances.

With a positive attitude, you’ll have a higher quality of life. Having a positive attitude can really work magic in your life.

People who have survived cancer invariably say that a positive mental outlook was vital to their success in overcoming their terrible disease.

A positive mental attitude helps you find the humor in things that may typically bring you down.

You’ll be able to see things from a fresh perspective so you can handle the tough times with more creativity and intelligence.

With a positive attitude, you’ll simply feel more joy in your life.

You’ll laugh more, feel healthier, be more courageous, have more self-confidence, and you won’t be as prone to giving up before you even get started.

More often than not, things will fall into place and you’ll feel an incredible sense of accomplishment!

Tips for Using “The Secret” In Your Life

By now you must’ve heard of The Secret, a book by Rhonda Bryne that talks about the Law of Attraction and how to use The Secret in your life.

But have you read the book or seen the movie and tried to incorporate the tips into your life but failed?

If so, it’s okay! You’re not alone.

That frustration stems from the fact that The Secret really only skims the surface on what you need to do in order to change your life.

To help you have the success you’re after, we’ve compiled a few tips to help you achieve your deepest desires!

How to Use The Secret In Your Daily Life

The basic premise of The Secret is that you attract the things you constantly think about.

To help make sure you stay on track with manifesting your desires, make a list.

You may think you know what you want, but those thoughts are often vague or not put in the right perspective.

Get specific. Instead of writing that you want to be out of debt, you need to visualize that you have all the money you could ever need and desire.

Think of your credit card statements with a zero balance. Think about what you will do with the money.

Make your list of wants very precise all the way down to the smallest detail.

Use visual reminders to help keep you focused.

If you want a new car, then find a picture of the exact car you want.

You can even go to a dealership with a friend and take your dream car for a test drive and have your friend take your picture in the car.

Print the picture out and post it where you’ll see it each and everyday. You can do this with anything you want.

To attract more money, write yourself a check in the exact amount you want and post it everywhere you can see it.

The mind works well with visual reminders and clues.

Create a personal mantra or motto that you can use as a screensaver or wallpaper on your computer.

Record the message on your voicemail.

Write it out on small slips of paper and post those papers everywhere so every time you start to slip into negative thinking, you have a positive reminder to help you re-focus.

Reprogram Your Mind

To make sure you’re taking complete advantage of what The Secret teaches, you have to reprogram the way you think and this takes time.

Making sure you have gentle reminders that help reprogram your mind will be greatly beneficial.

It’s easy to slip into the old way of thinking, worrying about money, or stressing over negative things.

But you can disallow yourself to get into that negative spiral by staying focused on the positive.

Being Grateful For The Abundance Already In Your Life

You also need to be grateful for the things you have in your life right now.

No, you may not have everything you want, but you have everything you need to succeed.

Be thankful for each day you wake up, for the fact that you’re able to breathe and move on your own.

Be thankful that you have a job, a roof over your head, and clothes on your back.

Be gracious because you have someone who loves you.

The only way to get more of a good thing is to appreciate the good you have.

Create a gratitude book. Write in it whenever you have time and keep it handy so any time you feel down, you can take it out and remind yourself of all the good you have.

How to Be a Leader at Work

What can you do to do to be heard, respected, and well liked?

It may be true that some people are born leaders.

There’s something about them that makes people want to follow them – their charm or charisma – but you can learn how to be an effective leader!

Whether you’re a natural born leader or not, there are a number of behaviors you can practice and use to become a leader that will make people want to listen to you, respect you, and like you.

We all need leaders to guide, inspire, and encourage us.

A good leader can leave us feeling inspired and uplifted.

But how can you become a positive leader?

Simply put, leaders help their employees feel good about themselves.

Leaders ensure that staff feels appreciated for the hard work they do day in and day out.

You can do this by getting actively involved with your colleagues.

After all, it’s difficult for you to make someone feel good about themselves if you have no idea what exactly they do, so pay attention!

You also need to learn how to communicate effectively with others.

Let others know that they can freely voice their opinions and ideas to you.

If you actively listen to each and every person, they’ll all feel like valuable players on your team.

Be professional, but be personable. When you’re introducing employees to visitors or senior managers, always introduce them by their first name.

Refer to them as your team members, colleagues, or associates.

Never ever refer to them as your subordinates or by their job titles.

Leadership Involves Being A Positive Role Model

Good leaders do more then talk the talk; they actually walk the walk.

By setting a good example and understanding the needs and pressures of the team, a leader can help others see the big picture and help them understand why their roles are so important to the team’s success.

Here are a couple ways to lead by example:

If you’re trying to get your employees to be more involved in their jobs and help others when they need it, what are you doing to set a good example?

Good leaders roll up their sleeves and get down to business with the people that are working for them.

Good leaders fight for the rights of their team at all levels.

If you show your team how much you respect their needs, you’ll gain their respect, too.

For example, if a pay raise is stalled, actively investigate why it’s stalled and keep your team updated.

Taking a Individual Approach

To be a good leader you also need to understand that different people are motivated in different ways.

People naturally like to see a positive outcome for the work they do and the key is to find out what motivates the people you work with.

Is the motivation to get a pay increase?

Is it recognition for a job well done?

Or is it being named employee of the month?

Motivation can be very individualized.

Take the time to get to know the people working with you so you can figure out the best way to motivate them.

Even if you own a small business and can’t afford expensive employee rewards, sometimes a nice dinner or a thoughtful gift is enough to show your employees your appreciation.

Good leaders know that each person is essential to the success of the team as a whole.

Don’t take the people working for you for granted. Remember that getting the respect you desire first starts with respecting others.

In reality, how you perceive yourself has a powerful impact on how others treat you.

Some factors in bolstering self-confidence may be beyond your control, but there are some very tangible things that you can do as well.

Using these tips will help you reach your full potential as a successful and confident person.

1. Dress confidently. Dress like the person you want to be and you’ll feel yourself become that person. When you look good, you’ll feel good.

Now, this doesn’t mean that you have to go out and spend a fortune on clothes.

It’s better to buy a few really nice pieces than a bunch of cheap ones.

2. Walk faster. People who walk confidently keep a brisk pace because they have things to do and places to be.

Simply quickening your step will help you feel more confident.

3. Keep good posture. People can tell a lot about you by the way you carry yourself.

If you have slumped shoulders and cannot look people in the eye, you’ll leave a negative impression on them.

Keep your head up, make eye contact with others, and stand up straight and tall. You have nothing to hide.

4. Be grateful. Gratitude creates a state of peace in the body.

A peaceful mind radiates confidence.

Make a list of the things you appreciate about yourself and be grateful for your past successes.

Tell those you love how much you appreciate them being in your life.

5. Compliment others. In addition to showing appreciation for what you have, it’s also important to show others your appreciation.

If you think negatively about yourself, then you’ll have a tendency to criticize others.

Break this habit by praising others on a daily basis. Seeing the best in others will bring out the best in you.

6. Give back. Contributing to the success of others will not only help you feel better about yourself, but karma will reward you in the end.

What goes around comes around, right?

Volunteer your time to help those in need or make a monetary contribution to your favorite local charity.

7. Don’t be afraid to speak up. Many people keep quiet for fear of saying something silly.

Taking an active role in discussions will distinguish you as a leader amongst your peers.

They will quickly recognize that you have confidence and plenty to offer.

8. Exercise regularly. If you work hard to create a better physical image, you’ll not only be healthier, but you’ll also have more energy.

Both of these things will contribute to your self-confidence, as will the compliments you’ll receive.

9. Sit in the front row. Most of us have a tendency to try to blend into the back of the room somewhere.

We don’t like being noticed.

Confident people sit up front where they can take part in discussions without fear.

10. Take a chance and try something new. Learning a new hobby or activity will broaden your horizons and help you feel “alive.”

Anytime you spend stretching your mind improves your overall self-confidence.

Every time I see an opportunity to help others, I do so joyfully.

I am willing to help anyone I meet who is in need, and I do so joyfully. I consider myself fortunate to have the means to help others.

I believe that small gestures really do matter.

A cathedral would be but a foundation without the blocks that give it shape.

A symphony would be flat noise without the notes that compose it.

Likewise, when I act kindly or generously, I help give shape to the goodness in the world.

When I assist a neighbor who’s moving furniture or when I give a cup of coffee to the homeless man on the corner, I am fully aware that I am not changing the world with my actions.

And yet, I know that I am contributing to making the world a better place.

After all, each gesture can have a significant impact.

I believe that giving to others not only helps the recipient, but me as well.

What I send out comes back to me, ten-fold, sometimes in kind but often in a form that is different but equally valuable.

When I give generously and without expectation of fanfare, I expand my spirit and open myself up to receive much good in return.
