I strive to leave a positive impact wherever I go.

As a result, others look forward to my visits and the good effects spill over to me, too!

In the mornings, I help my family get started in a good mood.

I prepare clothes the night before and keep backpacks by the door to prevent a stressful and frantic morning rush.

At work, I encourage a peaceful, productive atmosphere.

I avoid participating in gossip and office politics, and my co-workers feel confident around me.

I am sure to give sincere compliments to others for a job well done.

My clients enjoy doing business with me because I go out of my way to give them a good experience and I show them appreciation for their business.

At the grocery store, I am patient with a harried mother counting out change for her baby’s formula.

I share food, drink, and money with the beggar on the street corner.

I open doors for others and give them a warm smile.

I make it a point to say, “Thank you,” and I make my discussions encouraging and optimistic.

In these small ways, I know that I make a positive difference in my community.

In the evenings, my family has dinner together and we share our day with each other.

We use the meal as a time to catch up, share our plans for the future, and show our support for each family member.

Today, I plan to step up my positive impact efforts and help a stranger in need.

Using Affirmations to Discover the Joys in Your Life

Affirmations are simple statements we can use to improve our self-esteem, help us reach a goal, break a bad habit, find love, or even discover joy in our lives.

Positive affirmations work hand in hand with our subconscious to make lasting changes for the better.

Many times we may already experience joy, but we don’t know celebrate it enough.

Sadly, at other times, we aren’t even aware that it’s present.

Positive affirmations can help you rediscover that joy, peace, health, and happiness!

Here are some examples of positive affirmations and how they can improve your life:

1. “I’m worth it!” This positive affirmation tells us that we’re deserving of being happy.

Whether you’re aware of it or not, you gravitate toward the outcome of situations because of your thought processes.

Therefore, when you think positively, you’ll make decisions based on that type of outcome, consciously or unconsciously.

The same goes if you think negatively.

How to Use the Law of Attraction to Attract More Money

If you dwell on the negative – such as how bad the economy is or how tragic situations are – your thoughts, and therefore your decisions, take you down a path to negative outcomes.

4. Boost your income at your current job.

When you think positive things about your job, you tend to perform better.

I surround myself with positive people, just like me.

I surround myself with positive people because I believe that, next to my own determination to live fully, the company I choose to keep determines the quality of my life.

I aim for authenticity in my relationships and have no need or desire for people to pretend with me.

I let go of the idea that being positive requires a permanent grin on my face.

However, I also free myself from the effects of those who would drag me down by their perpetual focus on all that is wrong or unfair in their lives.

I pick my closest friends among those who can acknowledge their challenges and all their feelings, including anger and resentment, but don’t get bogged down in them.

They analyze their problems in search of solutions, and they help me do the same.

Sometimes life is tough, and I want my friends to be able to admit their difficulties to me, just as I want to be able to be honest with them.

Together we will help each other find and draw out the beauty and opportunities that are just waiting to be discovered within each new challenge.

The Bad News about Affirmations

As you go through life, you’re constantly affirming your own thoughts and beliefs.

Throughout each day, you consciously and unconsciously tell yourself things based on your belief system.

The problem is, much of the time you may actually be re-affirming negative thoughts rather than positive ones.

This is bad news.

After all, if your affirmations are negative, you can expect only negative outcomes!

How many times in a day do you tell yourself how stupid you are for forgetting something or how fat you are when your favorite jeans feel tight?

Negative thinking reinforces an internal belief that we’ll never be able to change ourselves and that we’re destined to continue repeating our self-destructive behaviors.

When we re-affirm our negative thoughts, we enter into a vicious cycle that leads to even more negative thinking.

Imagine how different your life would be if you began using affirmations to reinforce the positive!

Affirmations work wonders if you use them properly.

By making a few simple adjustments in the way you phrase your inner dialog, you can begin using this powerful technique to change your thinking and change your life.

Your subconscious mind accepts things on a very literal basis, so for affirmations to work effectively, you need to follow a simple formula.

Follow these tips to create positive affirmations that can change your life for the better:

Your subconscious needs to know you’re doing something now, not in the future.

For example, if you state an affirmation as something you want to change, such as “I will quit smoking,” your subconscious cannot distinguish what you mean by “I will.”

It has no sense of planning for the future.

In fact, your subconscious mind will accept what you tell it, even if the behavior has not yet happened, that’s why you should state your affirmation as if it’s already a fact.

“I am free from the desire to smoke” is an effective affirmation and will begin to program your subconscious mind into thinking as a non-smoker, even before you put down the cigarettes.

An affirmation must be personal for your subconscious to accept it.

Saying, “You need to eat healthy” won’t help you change your diet.

When your subconscious hears the word “you,” it doesn’t interpret it as a statement directed at yourself.

Instead, phrase your affirmation in the first person.

Stick to “I” in your affirmations and you’ll soon notice a strong positive effect on your behaviors.

“I enjoy eating healthy foods” is a positive, first person affirmation that will help you begin making better choices when you reach for a meal or snack.

Your subconscious mind is very literal.

It can’t process the concept of “not.”

The statement, “I am not going to lie on the couch watching TV when I should be exercising” won’t do anything other than re-affirm how you should lay on the couch in front of the television.

Form your intention in a positive way, even if you haven’t made the behavior change yet.

“I enjoy exercising in my spare time” is more likely to motivate you to get up and go to the gym, instead of reaching for the remote control and a bag of chips.

Positive, personal, present tense affirmations are extremely powerful in changing how your subconscious affects your behavior.

Make an effort to stop reinforcing your old, negative thinking that keeps you caught in a rut.

Try using these three simple techniques today to create affirmations that can change your subconscious programming, your actions, and your life for the better.
